COVID-19 Update

First Craven Sanitary District continues to provide its citizens with safe and a dependable water supply during these difficult times.  According to the Environmental Protection Agency:

"There is no higher priority for EPA than protecting the health and safety of Americans. EPA is providing this important information about COVID-19 as it relates to drinking water and wastewater to provide clarity to the public. The COVID-19 virus has not been detected in drinking-water supplies. Based on current evidence, the risk to water supplies is low. Americans can continue to use and drink water from their tap as usual. EPA also encourages the public to help keep household plumbing and our nation’s water infrastructure operating properly by only flushing toilet paper. Disinfecting wipes and other items should be disposed of in the trash, not the toilet."

First Craven Sanitary District will continue to provide the best service possible.  In order to protect our employees and better serve our customers, the following actions have been taken:

1.  The office has reopened for walk-in business transactions.  We still encourage the use of the drop-box by the door, US-Mail, or online services for payments.  Due to space limitations, we will try to limit one customer in our lobby at a time.

2.  In accordance with Executive Order 124, disconnections for nonpayment and reconnection fees for residential customers have been suspended for the months of April thru July 2020 to assist with financial hardships.  We encourage our customers to continue to make payments, or at least partial payments whenever possible.  The District is funded solely by revenue received from the sale of water.

3.  Customers who need assistance with catching up on past due balances can now sign up on a payment plan until July 31, 2020.  Please call our office or stop by for details.
